Black Girls Rock! an organization that promotes the arts as well as “the analysis of the way women of color are portrayed in main-stream media” was created by model/DJ Beverly Bond as a means to mentor young women and empower them through programs that will help them fulfill their dreams without compromising their integrity or self-identity.

While Beverly has made great strides towards inspiring + empowering she also recognizes her peers and those who came before her that have served and entertained with purpose. The Black Girls Rock! Awards honors those individuals whose contributions and accomplishments have enriched and advanced the culture.

This year the award show will air on BET Network . After attending the event 3 years ago Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials for BET Networks said “I knew immediately that BET had to partner with this event… the positive energy was palpable. We are proud to celebrate the strengths, triumphs and talents of Black women in this very special show and bring Beverly’s message and vision to our audience.”

The event will take place on October, 16th at The Paradise Theatre in New York City and will air nationwide on BET Networks on Sunday, November 7th 2010.
